Graduate/Field profile

Graduates are healthcare professionals who provide prehospital health care. They have adequate knowledge from scientific disciplines that are a source for urgent health care. They know principles, methods and standards in urgent health care. They know legal norms about the extent of practice of a healthcare rescuer, conditions of cooperation between all parts of the Integrated Rescue System.

Based on the acquired knowledge, graduates can diagnose, provide and evaluate necessary urgent health care directly in contact with patients with acute conditions, provide nursing care during secondary transports, and provide intensive care during transports by a mobile intensive care unit ambulance.

 

Employment possibilities

• Healthcare rescuer as an ambulance driver and crew member
• Healthcare rescuer in an ambulance of the Fire and Rescue Service
• Healthcare rescuer in an ambulance of the Mountain Rescue Service
• Healthcare rescuer at emergency departments or admission departments in healthcare facilities
• Emergency medical dispatcher in the Emergency Medical Service of the Slovak Republic
• Healthcare rescuer in military health care system

 

Admission requirements

The basic admission requirement for study (in accordance with Section 56 par. 1 of the Act No. 131/2002 on universities)

• The study programme can be chosen by secondary school graduates from the Slovak Republic or abroad who have completed their secondary education with the school-leaving certificate (or an equivalent examination) and who submit a relevant legally valid document by the date stated by FSVaZ;
• The applicants who by the stated date to meet the basic admission requirement do not meet this requirement but who meet other basic admission requirements for study stated by FSVaZ and also achieve a sufficient number of points for admission, can be accepted for study conditionally and are obliged to show meeting the basic requirement by the date stated for enrolment for study (according to Section 58 par. 1 of the Act 131/2002 on universities).

Other basic admission requirements for study stated by FSVaZ

• Achieving at least 15 points in a talent assessment examination in applicants for the study programme Urgent Health Care in the full-time form of study[1];
• Meeting the special admission requirements of applicants for the study programme Urgent Health Care in the part-time form of study;

 

An applicant for study in the study programme Urgent Health Care is obliged to submit a medical confirmation of ability to study a healthcare study programme at a university. The required form is here.

 

After evaluation of meeting the basic admission requirements for study, the applicants with the highest number of achieved points in accordance with the applicant selection criteria defined by FSVaZ will be admitted. More information here

 

Entrance examination

The entrance procedure does not include an entrance examination. Applicants will be admitted on the basis of previous study results and meeting other defined requirements.

In the study programme Urgent Health Care (full-time form) the entrance procedure includes a talent assessment examination.

Application form and fees

An applicant is required to fill in and send an application form by the deadline to the respective faculty. For study at UKF, an applicant can fill in:

• A paper application form (Fee: 30.00€)
• An electronic application form (Fee: 25.00€)

FSVaZ UKF in Nitra accepts paper application forms at the current forms published at the website of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic.

FSVaZ UKF in Nitra prefers the use of electronic application forms.

 

When applying electronically, an applicant is required to:

• Fill in an electronic application form
• Print the electronic application form
• Confirm the application form
• Post the signed application form with attachments

• An applicant can submit more than one application form for study in various study programmes. However, each application form can contain only one study programme.

Department of Clinical Disciplines and Urgent Medicine

The Department of Clinical Disciplines and Urgent Medicine educates students in the study programme Urgent Health Care; graduates can work in a position of a healthcare rescuer. The Department actively participates in and successfully represents the Faculty at national and foreign competitions of professional rescuers. It is a co-organiser of professional and educational events in the area of providing first aid and lifesaving. The Department graduates have a high employment rate, are demanded in the labour market, and their high professional level has been confirmed by professionals from urgent medicine in most providers of the Emergency Medical Service.
